Charis Kaio joins Papa Ola Lōkahi as Monitoring and Compliance Specialist. She is originally from Maui, where she attended St. Anthony High School before graduating from the Kamehameha Schools in Kapālama as a boarder. With a degree in Sociology from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, she worked in the private sector for many years.
From 2016 until very recently, Charis was the primary caregiver for her mother, who was living with dementia. She describes caring for her mother as an opportunity, an enriching and rewarding experience.
Charis lives in Kāne‘ohe with her husband Jake and dog Brewster. She enjoys sewing and stand-up paddle boarding and learning the intricacies of Zoom. She looks forward to a time when she can again host dinner parties for family and friends.
