We continue our Meet Us Mondays with Christina Young, an intern with the Kekaulike Program at the UH Native Hawaiian Student Services Center. She will be assisting the Policy office at Papa Ola Lōkahi.
Christina Young is a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa studying Dietetics, expected to graduate in May 2021. Her goal is to become a Registered Dietitian upon program requirement completion. She was inspired to pursue her studies in dietetics because of her interest in how food relates to health and her family's history of chronic disease.
From Fremont, California, Christina decided to attend college in Hawai‘i to dive deeper into her ancestral roots. From when she was a keiki, she danced Hula and Tahitian, which helped her learn more about the Hawaiian culture while growing up in California.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, going to the beach, capturing memories through photography, and being surrounded by family and friends. Christina says her career goal is to better the health of the community of Native Hawaiians and underrepresented populations in the Pacific.
