In the first five years (2000-2005), Imi Hale established a statewide network to address the burden of cancer in Hawaiian communities. In partnership with the Native Hawaiian Health Care Systems, Imi Hale developed a 5-year strategic plan to identify island-specific priorities in cancer prevention and control. This plan guided trainings and programs for community outreach staff and their constituents. For a summary of Imi Hales first five years, contact us for a copy of The Legacy of Imi Hale: Building Native Hawaiian Capacity in Cancer Research, Programming, and Health Seeking.
During the next five years (2005-2010), Imi Hale will continue its cancer health campaign through community education efforts, training activities, and the development of policy initiatives that translate evidence-based data into beneficial cancer prevention and control practices. `Imi Hale can be found at www.imihale.org.
