Our own Kia’i Lee was present when Governor Josh Green signed into law SB 2305, referred to as the Silver Alert Bill.

The Silver Alert program will help to save lives by alerting the community, and activating compassionate and medically informed protocols with law enforcement to locate a kupuna (65 and older) who may wander off and go missing due to cognitive decline related to Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias.

Much like the AMBER Alert system used to locate abducted children, Silver Alert systems are already used in half of the states in America. These alerts have proven themselves to be extremely effective when activated.

Signed by the governor on July 1, 2024, Silver Alert immediately took effect.

We are honored to be part of this effort to mālama kūpuna. Mahalo nui and congratulations to the Alzheimer’s Association Aloha Chapter and our many partners and supportive legislators for this success.
